Fall Equinox: Breath of Life

7 PM / September 22, 2024 / Lake Oswego, OR

Join us for an intimate night of breathwork on the fall equinox, when light and dark share the day in equal amounts.

The breath sustains life. We can manipulate our breathing patterns to induce calm, and sometimes this is skillful, when we feel unsafe or need resourcing. But if we only ever soothe ourselves when dysregulated, we don’t transform the underlying blocks that trigger distress in the first place.

That’s where another style of breathwork comes in, one that safely and deliberately activates the sympathetic nervous system in order to amplify the unconscious material that is ready to be released. We’ll do circular breathing which is similar to holotropic and other styles that go by a variety of names (e.g., conscious-connected, ecstatic, transformational, rebirthing, etc.).

A key in this practice is to tolerate the charge that builds in the body and allow the pressure of that charge to lovingly push on our energetic blockages, helping them to unwind. When these blockages release, we’re less likely to react to whatever triggered them in the past, and therefore have less need to rely on calming breaths to regulate our nervous system.

Event Details

The event will begin with a guided meditation into the energy body. Then, to prime consciousness before the formal breathwork begins, we’ll have the opportunity to share any transitions that are occurring during this season of our lives, changes that might be helped along by following the example of leaves as they let go from the branches.

Then we’ll warm up with supportive yoga postures, such as cat cow while lying down, and find an anchor, such as a part of the body, an object, or a texture that is a physical touchstone should you need help grounding during the session.

Finally we’ll enter a 45-minute period of breathwork practice to curated music.
